Seems simple enough, but every time I look up pipes and whatnot for sale the price is way too high. I'll explain...I'm essentially building my own dip stand for working out at home. Not worth getting into why I need to build my own, but I now need to source the beams (think like the bars in a gymnastics parallel bar apparatus.)They need to be about 5' in length, and either 1.5" or 2" diameter. They each need to be able to easily support half my weight (so ~85 lbs. each. Obviously that should not be the max!)When I look up simple piping on homedepot.com or metal furnishers, with a decently sized inner wall (and 5' in length), the price seems to skyrocket.Weightlifting bars (think benchpress) are likewise too expensive.I feel like I should be able to get this stuff for maybe $20 a bar or less. It can really be any material (hence wood an option) so long as it meets the criteria above.Any ideas? I'm not at all above buying something completely unrelated and salvaging/cannibalizing what I need (really is anyone on this sub? :)) It's one of those things where I know if I go one route, the same piece of metal will cost me $120, yet if I source it another, it could cost me pennies.Thoughts? Thanks!!! via /r/DIY https://ift.tt/2p4ClBs
