So I currently work at a tire shop in northern utah. I have been here for almost a year and a half and make $14.50/hr The way my current job works is once you hit 2 years you have the potential to promote to assistant manager and then 2-4 years later manager. Managers make good money my current manager made over 230k last year. Recently other opportunities have presented themselves I'm not a mechanic I'm a tire tech I can do brakes alignments tires and I'm certified to work on large semis and tractors. The problem is the job is abusive on the body and mind my managers are terrible to work for. (No seriously it's some of the worst I've seen and no one does anything about it.)
I could potentially get a job at another store for 18/hr or more with commission, or a dealership with a friend and get trained to become a master tech both these jobs would be an immediate step up but the long term is not as rewarding (assuming things go my way and I can promote) I'm not sure what I should do. Any ideas could help put some perspective? The current job is walking distance from my apartment and has great benefits for the family but I dont make very much right now. My next raise is due soon and will go to 16$hr but that's still less and I don't make commission even though I'm a top seller
