OK - so, long story short - first time homeowner, just purchased last week. We are getting a gas dryer installed tomorrow.I spent the last few days measuring and such and yesterday bought the pipe - 1 inch black steel piping, cut to fit where it will run. Awesome, no problems there. Got the pipe dope, also a roll of yellow pipe tape (though I'm not sure if I really should use both - I've seen yay and nay online), the fittings, ball valve, etc.I have a six inch section at the bottom of the drop down the wall on a T fitting to serve as a sediment trap.My question is... well, I've never done a gas line before. It's only being run about eight feet total, coming off a T-joint on an existing pipeline that has an open spot (currently has a plug in it). I know about using soapy water to check for leaks etc... but what little tricks or trip-ups do I need to watch out for?One thing I have found myself wondering is how I want to secure this to the wall - I'm thinking one or two hose straps, going to a wooden block for a backer and drilled into the cinderblock wall should suffice?So... yeah, give this amateur handyman some good advice :DOh, and I plan to shut the gas off at the street-side, since I cannot for the life of me find the shutoff inside the house as of yet (I suspect it's somewhere under a bunch of insulation the previous owner had installed in the crawlspace half of the basement). via /r/DIY https://ift.tt/2DxAzDa
