Long story short, over the past 10 years, I've gone through two billingham Hadley pro bags. I had always considered them bifl bags, and they have served me really well for the past decade. However, I'm looking around to see if there is a better alternative.
For a bit more context, I've used billingham daily... as a diaper bag, as a work briefcase, as a photographers bag, as a travel bag. It has seen rain, snow and sauna-like humidity. My billinghams eventually broke. Either at the zipper, or the top handle. The fabric has held up very well.
I like that they dont have zippers on the main compartment. I like that the fabric is fairly rigid and keeps its shape while being malable. The brass fittings that allow for quick and secure access to the main compartment is one of my favorite features. The front pockets are used with admin pouches for edc type of stuff. The rear pocket is used like an extra pant pocket. Over the years I've really honed the functionality of the bag and a bag has become an essential accessory.
I was looking at filson 24hr briefcase, but I'm not sure about how I would like the zippers. And I'm have no idea of whether I should choose the tin clothe or twill.
