I picked up a like-new looking pair of Munson's about 6 months ago. They were still raw leather with no polish or treatment, scuffed a bit but looked like they were only worn a time or two.
I polished them dark brown and have been putting a coat of mink oil on them every month or so. But over the last few weeks I have noticed them starting to look aged. They are picking up a bit of water and the soles (hard rubber) are worn smooth. I'm a butcher and spend 8-10 days a day at a cut table with occasional blood drips and 3-4 full hose downs each day. The smooth soles are hard on the wet floors and I'm considering looking into getting them resoled.
Does anybody know if it is possible with these? Is it worth it? These are 120 buck boots (snagged for 15 originally!!!) compared to the more BIFL 200+ boots that usually pop up in the Redwing threads. I know the Redwing does make a few pairs of cheaper boots, i walked through a brand new pair of Irish Setters in less than 90 days.
My question is basically are these boots worth it? Does anybody know if the leather is good enough to hold up? Is it even possible to get these resoled? Would the cost of resoling be worthwhile with a lower cost boot?
