Love my current job (3 years) and the people I work with. Constantly turn down recruiters and have never actively sought a move.
One company contacted me about 6 months ago and I said no thanks. Nothing against that job itself (slightly different field than mine) or anything, I just have a nice path for advancement and a lot of valuable intangibles at my current company.
They contacted me again last month since they’re expanding their team and pretty much came out with an offer right away. I’d be moving from making 65k to 110k. Benefits and PTO are nearly identical.
I never thought about leaving because a “typical” move to a new company of around 15-25% salary increase wasn’t worth the risk to me. But this magnitude of an increase is something I hadn’t even considered in the realm of possibility.
Am I dumb for even second guessing the offer? Am I too risk-averse for someone in their mid 20s in a niche field? Even if the new job is longer hours or more annoying to deal with, that type of increase would certainly justify it, right?
