The question is for my general learning but I have an example in mind which sparked interest in the question!
Rio Tinto gets the final say in who gets employed and fired at Turquoise Hill Resources. This creates a conflict of interest. TRQ shareholder equity is rising hard. Market cap is falling fast perhaps due to this conflict of interest. Dividends aren’t being paid out of equity to TRQ shareholders.
What is the process by which shareholders might take back control of who gets hired for management at a company?
