My wood floors need some work and I'd like to try refinishing them myself. I'm not very familiar with hardwood floors so I was hoping some folks could share some knowledge and advice. What kind of flooring is this? Is it actually hardwood and not some veneer or composite? I'm seeing some continuation of grain on the ends and the cracking is along the grain so I'm thinking at least the surface is actual wood. Although abused the sections are flat and not warped. The damage is primarily wear over time, raised grain caused by pet stains and also a section turned black caused by mystery goo on the bottom of a delivered package. Sanding and finishing seems pretty straight forward(famous last words), how would you finish something with this kind of beveled edge? It would seem to me applying anything like polyurethane would fill in the channels. Is this even a bad thing? Is this even a refinishable surface? via /r/DIY https://ift.tt/2Oh07Fw
