I have wooden shelves from this west elm unit and I'm trying to build something similar at home with basic tools (I just have a drill and oscillating tool).I'm not too sure whether my construction will be sound, I'd like the shelves to handle about 15kg weight each.Crude drawing https://ift.tt/2O2bUax version A it's a frame from 4 steel box section. Each shelf is sitting on just four small corner braces, affixed by M5s all round.Version B has side plates sitting on the corner braces and then the shelves are supported by those side plates. I'm not sure it solves anything, other than adding the ability to rearrange the shelves more easily. It would also look closer to the original unit (the wooden shelves have cut outs for the plates). It's also more difficult to build because I have to find or cut steel plates to the right size, whereas in A I just drill some holes, put some screws in and that's it.Items:- 4x 2m 16x16x1mm steel box section- 4x 40x85x2cm shelves- 16x 25x25mm corner braces, M5- anti tip furniture strap via /r/DIY https://ift.tt/2oROVEb
