I have been reading many comments about Purple here and mostly people are very confused and skeptical about it. So I decided to share my experience with Purple mattress and how it is holding up. Hopefully it will help someone out here!
My old mattress was a pure memory foam one I got from my parents’ place. So naturally I had been sleeping on it all my life. In the last few years, I was waking up with a striking pain on my sides and lower back. I had started gym recently so I thought maybe it was because of that. But when I had to quit gym after sometime and the pain still didn’t reduce, I instantly realized it was because of the mattress. It was sagging pretty badly so itwas time to buy a new one.
I am more of a brick and mortar buyer so I went to a new showroom that recently opened up around Bowery. They helped me with a lot of choices, I tried plenty of beds and then settled on Purple. I had been saving up so used that to get this new bed. Got the Queen size from this link and ended up getting a good discount! So it was a decent bargain.
The mattress was easy to unfold and set up. The powder thing that many people complain about concerned me in the start but it never disrupted my sleep … so all in all it isn’t life threatening!!
I’ll be honest, breaking in was a bit uncomfortable. The surface had an … unusual feel. But I attributed it to the fact that I had been snoozing on a pure memory foam mattress for as long as I remember, so it was bound to happen. After a month, I finally start to break in to it. I remember waking up in the morning and actually feeling refreshed for the first time in years. My lower back pain had subsided and thankfully my sides were not killing me anymore… it was magical and I was thanking heavens for Purple.
I often have my gf over and she also loves it! She’s a back sleeper while I a combination sleeper. Showroom salesman told us Purple has pretty firm feel which is good for both of our sleeping styles and he was right! Another thing worth mentioning here is that because am a combination sleeper, I change my positions a lot. Hence, toss and turns can be a huge pain. Girlfriend used to complain about it a lot but since we sleep on Purple, it is no longer an issue.
Speaking of girlfriend, Purple offers good bounce as well! I like the fact that it can be both bouncy or soft and contouring whenever its needed.
Anyway, I have been sleeping on this mattress for about 3 months. All in all, am so glad I bought Purple. It has literally saved my health!
