I bought a 1925 home with a poured concrete foundation. The basement walls had drywall over them, put on sometime in the 50s, that i started to tear down and found some pretty large cracks both vertical and horizontal. The soil around the home is clay, and expands/contracts a lot with water. The previous home owner said around April, water comes in the basement and forms a "film" on the basement floor that heads towards a drain. I have no clue if water is coming in from the cracks themselves, but underneath the drywall i tore down is an awful lot of efflorescence. Im planning on putting in a french drain outside the walls on the perimeter of the house to help relieve some pressure, and I would also like to fill in the cracks on the wall. They're pretty large in some areas, and hairline in others. I was wondering if large cracks should be filled with hydraulic cement and the hairline ones with epoxy injection? Any advice would be helpful, thanks in advance! via /r/DIY https://ift.tt/2LURPRo
