i really really love this sub <3 great to see likeminded people - and sooo much of them! - is anyone here from europe?

I come from Germany, but it will probably be the same in the USA and other First World countries.

Rents are becoming more and more expensive and unaffordable for most young people. Nevertheless, many people want to live in the big cities because they like the lifestyle there - or they think they have to like it?

To finance all this a lot of work is done and also here many people seem to be totally absorbed in it - or think they have to be that way?

At the same time there are more and more people who are interested in self-made and "real" things. Analogue photography, craft beer, carpentry - The most popular magazine in Germany is called "Landlust" and is full of cliche rural cooking recipes and pictures of green meadows and chickens.

People yearn for these things - because they are so caught up in the "modern world" at the same time...

I often ask myself whether there will be a turning point at some point and whether "simple" life in rural areas will become more popular again. Through digitization and co, rural areas are already becoming more and more attractive...

Or is it just a nice thougth for most people stay in their inner city apartments and their cubicles and shopping malls?

/ i didnt want to say that only rural living is "real" simple living. but could simple living, anticonsumption, not wanting the next big car, next expensive gadget, the nicer appartement be a trend ? and rural living may be a subpart of that school of thinking.
