Here's my dilemma:

I have a black tie wedding in two weeks. I did not previously have a black tie appropriate dress, so I bought one a few months ago. This was after a long search to find something cheap, flattering, and that I could wear a normal bra with. I got it on Amazon after trying 5-6 dresses from there and seeing pretty much everything they offered. Great, cool, just gotta get it hemmed.

Early August my boyfriend and I moved from Chicago to Atlanta. We don't have an apartment yet, so pretty much all of our belongings are in storage pods. Including my dress, which is in a wardrobe box in one of these filled-to-the-top storage pods. I thought we would have an apartment by now, but it's taking us a long time to get jobs. We are going to visit the units next week and see if the wardrobe box is easy to get to; if not, no dice.

So now I have to redo my search all over again, plus I'm out the money of this other dress I bought, and I don't have a job so I can't spend a lot (I didn't in the first place, either). I was going to buy the dress again, keep it, and return the new one that's in the storage unit once I can unpack it, but it's sold out. And obviously I've already checked most places for a dress already from my original search.

So I implore you: Where can I get an affordable dress for a black tie wedding that is not sheer in the back, bodycon, and/or from Amazon? My max here is $50. I am short and curvy/chubby so will probably have to spend money to get it hemmed. I don't have time to order from eShakti, much as I love it. Lulus is not larger size friendly and most dresses are backless. It's probably too late for me to look for clearance prom dresses. I can try thrifting but it's super hit and miss, and most of what I see are early 2000s bridesmaid dresses not in my size. Rent the runway is too expensive, too.
