Hello helpful DIY'ers!I'm installing new cedar siding on my house. I'm using 8" bevel cedar siding. The nails on the old siding were clearly visible. I'd like to use blind nailing to install the new siding.(example of blind nailing: http://www.vinylsidingzone.com/imagesvr_ce/3549/HP2.png)However, this website and a few others specify that I should use face-nailing. (http://www.foxhomecenter.com/lumber/cdrsdginst.htm)No website tells me *why* I shouldn't use blind nailing. Are the bottoms of the boards more prone to warping or something? These people made a comically short, un-helpful vid on the subject: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dEXSb0CfodUBonus points: Any tips on hiding butt joints would be appreciated. Currently planning to cut the adjoining boards at 45 degree angles, overlap lightly, and calk. Would this still be noticeable under paint? via /r/DIY https://ift.tt/2Lgjqw4
