A lot of people don't realize how much of the olive oil on the market is either fake sunflower oil with added chlorophyll and beta carotene, or blended with other types of oil but not labeled as such, or a lower grade of olive oil relabeled as extra virgin.
If you want to cook with extra virgin olive oil, make sure what you are buying is actually extra virgin olive oil. UC Davis did a study below showing which brands were legit and which were not.
"In July 2010 the UC Davis Olive Center issued a report showing that 69 percent of imported olive oils labeled as “extra virgin” failed the IOC sensory standard - in other words, these oils were defective and failed to meet the international standard for extra virgin olive oil."
