I'm going to be moving into a property my folks own and I want to use the garage as an office or studio space. The walls inside the garage are already insulated and finished with paint, except of course for the garage door and the wall it's on, which is brick. I have experience converting a garage to a studio years back however in this case I don't have permission to wall over and remove the garage door, so I was thinking I could retain the garage door on the outside, disable it and then build a temporary interior stud wall inside about a foot away from the garage door.Any suggestions on things to consider with this? For example, can I remove the horizontal tracks and mechanisms of the garage door and just leaving it hanging to retain the look of a garage outside and clear the ceiling? What sort of layer should I have on the stud wall between wall and the garage door? Would love some pointers. via /r/DIY https://ift.tt/2oul1Wt
