54 year old female here. I had my financial life all planned up til now. Recently divorced, my 2 kids were in college and doing well. My job pays my bills, I live frugally, and my plan was to live in my apartment, retire at 65ish, and have just enough for personal happiness until I run out of investmests/money at age 95.

Then last year both kids had some major mental health crises. At this point i am not sure they will ever have decent employment, and may need me to help financially and as a caring parent. One moved in with me, the other is being funded by his wealthyish dad but that will stop soon. Dad wants to cut all ties soon.

This has been hard to accept. But my money question for this wonderful community is this: how should I adjust my finances to begin helping them? Is there any advice about insurance, long term care, and investing to adapt to all this? What would you do?
