I have had a credit card under my name that is shared between my sisters and I for the last year and a half. This card is automatically payed off by my parents, as it is only used for essentials (food, clothes, etc). It has never gone above 30% usage and has always been paid off on time. I now have about a 760 credit score according to creditkarma.

I have been told that I should also open a credit card under my own name to start building trust, since eventually the card under my parents' account will removed.

How do I apply for a card when my only source of income is my parents? I tried applying for one with chase but was denied since it was over the internet and I wasn't able to explain that I have the money available to pay it off (despite not having income).

What do I do? Should I go in and try to apply in person to explain this detail with one of my parents?
