That Martin money saving guy (sorry if you’re not UK based and you don’t know who I’m talking about) is genius.
I wanted to take my daughter to the cinema today. It’s very expensive and I hate paying extortionate prices. In the UK we have something called ‘Meerkat Movies’ where you get BOGOF for cinema tickets on a Tuesday and Wednesday if you’ve got a code. You get a code when you buy some sort of insurance through a website called Compare the Market. You get to use the offer for a year once you’ve bought insurance.
So last night, following the advice I’ve heard from this Martin guy, I went on the website and bought insurance. A one-way trip for 7 days to England (I live in England so thought it was strange it let me select that one) leaving on Sunday 26th August cost me £1.20. I got the code less than 10 minutes later.
Today it cost me a grand total of £3 for both me and my daughter to see the Greatest Showman. Popcorn and drinks from Aldi (cost around £1.75), and free parking in the nearby car park.
Anyone in the UK should try this. I’ve saved money just on one cinema trip. They’ve recently added restaurants to the deal too. Not just chain ones, quite a lot of the ones local to me are independent restaurants. Didn’t try that as my daughter wanted to go to Morrison’s cafe....which was fine by me as I get a family staff discount!
EDIT: I of course did not get one-way insurance. What an idiot. It was single-trip and my excited brain got mixed up.
