There was a boat parked on the corner of my street, and in an attempt to turn around it and go, I hit the curb hard and BANG! I had popped my car’s front right tire and it went flat in a second.
after work, I drove on a donut to tire repair company #1. There, the guy who checked me in checked my receipt and warranty info and told me that the tire I’d popped was a different make.
Cue the frugal: I save all my car receipts in my glove compartment and happened to know that I had the receipt for their purchase from another big corporate tire place up the road.
The dude at tire co. #1 measured the tread and said that it was 4/32 of an inch in depth. I went and got the warranty and saw that the tread was covered by tire co. #2 until it wears down to 3/32 of an inch or three years - September 8, 2018 - whichever comes first.
I threw the tire in my trunk and drove to tire co #2 where I saved $200 on the replacement AND was able to buy a warranty on my NEW tire as well for only $20.
Well worth it to spend an extra $20 now than $200 when you least expect it, don’t you agree? :)
