I'm a US and French citizen. In the USA I only worked one small restaurant job for a few months so I don't think I did taxes on that, but that was a long time ago. I moved to France after High School though.

Here in France, I've worked at a few jobs but at the very most I made between 5 to 10k~ or something US Dollars in per year for about 4 years.

I really haven't made all that much and I'm still poor to this day, and I sort of knew it was there but I saw on google

The late filing penalty is 5% of the additional taxes owed amount for every month (or fraction thereof) your return is late, up to a maximum of 25%.

If you file more than 60 days after the due date, the minimum penalty is $205 or 100% of your unpaid tax, whichever is less.

So I figured it wouldn't be too bad to wait a bit since a lot of the times I didn't make enough to pay taxes. Plus I paid my taxes here in France already. I plan on getting back to the USA in a couple months (between one month and three months)

Anyways I did read up on some reddit posts like this one: https://www.reddit.com/r/personalfinance/comments/8cr5tq/havent_filed_taxes_in_a_decade_how_bad_is_this/

And I feel like I'm in a similar situation but I don't know if I should do the same things here or how to do it. I don't know what the process should look like once I get back to the USA, kind of clueless. I make a lot less than that guy though. And I posted in the same subreddit as him, so hopefully I'm in the right place!
