My new house mate brought a second small television that he gave to me, and I feel weird considering I’ve never actually owned a television before. I normally watch YouTube on my tablet but I also enjoy college football that I’d normally stream.
I have this odd sense of responsibility? Almost like you thrust a pet upon me. I don’t know what to do with it but it’s mine now. Like I’ve been looking at it (it’s not even plugged in) and I keep looking at it like... what do I do with it? When I tell people I’ve never owned a television I seem a little odd especially since I refer to it formally as a television other than TV, like I don’t own a microwave, but I call it a microwave oven.
I get the feeling some people think I’m an old person or someone from the past, but I choose not to live with amenities like that so I don’t have a use for it. It commandeers my attention because it’s basically just a decoration, and an odd one at that since it doesn’t fit with the general decor.
Has anyone felt similarly? I don’t really need it but it’s a luxury that I’d only use seldom.
