It appears as though when I switched from a FICA exempt J-1 visa to a TN visa my employer did not correctly handle this (I'm still trying to get them to clarify how this happened) and was not deducting FICA taxes. They are now requesting that I pay upwards of ~20k back to them.
I can technically get the funds to pay this but what exactly are my options here? Can I request a payment program to minimize the immediate impact of this?
