I needed a dress shirt for an upcoming court hearing (going for full custody but that's another story). I found a shirt at Sears on sale for $20 with a tie. Good deal, right? As we're standing in line, my wife suggests Goodwill.
Why, yes, dear. Why didn't you suggest that sooner?
I found the exact same shirt in perfect condition for 99¢. I picked up another shirt, a tie, and pants for about $6.50.
It was a pretty proud moment. Granted, the wife made up the difference with some other clothes but overall, we still saved at least $50 (she needed a blouse as well).
Edit: to clarify, I tried on the shirts. They fit well and looked nice. I'm very discriminating about my Goodwill shopping (or shopping in general) but I've had very good luck. Like my $300-400 Hugo Boss wool coat (my best find ever).
