To make a long story short, we had a slow leak in a pipe behind our wall and it was dripping into the basement. We had the area behind the wall tested and mold was confirmed. I was told the levels are "not elevated", but mold is present. I also took a photo behind the wall through a hole that was made and I can see an area where about 1 sq foot of mold appears to be.I was quoted a price of $2500 to remove the drywall with mold and clean the area. This doesn't include replacing the drywall. Does that seem excessive? Is this something I can do myself if I use the proper protection? It's in my basement, which has a tile floor and is mostly bare except for some toys which will get thrown out anyway. I'm not trying to risk my health to save a few bucks, but the price just seemed so crazy to cut out drywall. Any thoughts are appreciated. via /r/DIY https://ift.tt/2OVmDnQ
