I love having neat, buffed nails and cuticles. It makes me feel feminine and pretty. But my nails won't take polish. I used to get the occasional manicure at a nail salon, sans polish. Since we've gotten onto a strict budget, I obviously haven't gone. So my nails started to get not-so-neat. I was at Walmart and saw those 6-in-1 nail files/buffers. I got one of those, and a good pair of cuticle and nail trimmers. I had some hair conditioning oil a friend gave me that worked great to moisturize them. Pretty nails again! But the file was $5 and wore out almost immediately. On the second use it was already hard to work with. Still cheaper than a salon, but not good on my budget. I happened to be at Dollar Tree and saw they had smaller 4-in-1 buffers. These don't have the rough file part (buffers are used to finish the surface of the nail, mostly), but Dollar Tree also had a pack of 10 emery boards for a dollar as well! I got them and discovered these buffers last at least two uses, maybe more, depending. So from $25 manicure to $2.50ish manicure to $0.55 manicure!!! Plus the investment of $7 or so for the trimmers, which will last a long time. Hurrah! I've struggled with wanting a few luxuries on a strict budget, but this one makes me feel both pampered and proud.
