Moved into my first house and although it has a garage to the back of the property I needed more parking as the garage is used for my ‘toy’ and my daily drive was being left in the road.Pics: https://ift.tt/2Oasvsg they have uploaded ‘back to front’... work bottom up.As you can see there is a very dilapidated brick wall and a mass of hideous ‘builders gravel’ that’s been used to ‘tidy’ the garden, although it’s not stopped the weeds.First job was to get the council to install a drop curb, they came round and marked up before relieving me of a disgusting amount of money and doing the work.Second was to remove the gravel (was just over a ton and a half all moved by hand / bucket. Then knock the wall down, pretty simple with a bit of a kick and the help of a club hammer in more stable places keeping the bricks to used as hardcore.A Cobble stone entrance and curb was laid and set with a dry cement mix. Then the drive measured out 5m by 3m and dig out moving about another ton of soil by hand before back filling with brickwork to form a stable base.Railway sleepers installed to the side and top of the drive area to allow small beds for planting at a later stage. Then a mix of sharp sand and gravel to lay a smooth stable, level area.Heavy duty weed membrane installed and pinned down before laying the Eco Deck slabs in place.Delivery of 1350kg of 10mm Black Basalt arrived just as I finished laying the Eco Deck.Black Basalt spread over Eco Deck (2inch depth).Car parked on to see what it looked like....The photo of the car you can see there is a small gap between Eco Deck and Cobble stone, this was cemented (about 5inches deep) to allow transition between cobbles and Eco Deck. The space between house and sleeper at top of picture has been laid with a row of paving slabs agains sleeper and back filled with Weed Membrane and Black Basalt up to the house. To the left of the picture between fence and sleeper soil has been added to raise level, weed membrane installed and Black Basalt put over with plans to plant with decorative grasses. via /r/DIY https://ift.tt/2vBlBVn
