I'm 39 years old, and have racked up a serious amount of credit card debt within my lifetime. I'd say about half of that debt went towards my business, which failed miserably. Lot's of expenses, mostly with travel ate that up. The other half it came from a lot of frivolous and unnecessary purchases.

I've been working a full-time job for nearly two years now, and make approximately $2k per month. I ended up moving back home a few years ago, and don't have to worry about paying rent, so I've got that saving me. But since I've been working, and I had a second part-time job for a while, and I've been selling a lot of those unnecessary purchases I made on eBay, I'm finding I'm having a hard time making a dent on these credit card debts, and I'm just paying off the interest every month.

I have a total of 6 credit cards, each with different interest rates and credit limits.

  • Credit Card #1 - $6,600 limit - 19.9% interest - $6,500 balance
  • Credit Card #2 - $2,000 limit - 14.9% interest - $895 balance
  • Credit Card #3 - $26,000 limit - 13.9% interest - $25,825 balance
  • Credit Card #4 - $26,500 limit - 13.9% interest - $26,200 balance
  • Credit Card #5 - $10,200 limit - 14.9% interest - $11,700 balance
  • Credit Card #6 - $19,400 limit - 15.5% interest - $19,200 balance

It's fair to state I haven't used my credit cards in years, and as I said, I'm just seem to be paying off the balance each month, and nothing is moving in terms of getting paid off. However, Credit Card #2, I've saved up enough, and will pay off the entire thing at the end of this month, which will be one card down.

One of my cards has a free credit score check, and I currently sit at 609, although I'm not sure sure if that is relevant in anyway.

I can't claim bankruptcy for a variety of reasons I won't go into, and I've asked all my credit cards to lower my interest rate, which they won't. Any suggestions and advice would be greatly appreciated. I'm tired of this debt, and would love to figure out a way to manage and pay these things off.
