My wife and I do our primary grocery shopping through Kroger. We also buy gift cards from Kroger for things we already plan to purchase (2x fuel points and sometimes 4x fuel points), along with customer surveys (good for $0.20 off per month).

Depending on the month, we'll get anywhere between $0.50 to $1.00 off per gallon, limit of 35 gallons. We wait until both our cars need to be filled up and then go to the gas station together and fill up at once on the same transaction, including a small 2.5 gallon can, which I just turn around and add to my car later when I have enough room in my tank. We usually add anywhere between 22 and 25 gallons between the two cars and small gas can.

I just bought two 6 gallon gas cans off of Facebook market place for $25 to take along with us in order to hit the 35 gallon cap. As of now, we're looking at $0.90 off for next month which is a savings of $10.80. These things are going to pay for themselves in no time!

Edit: Would not recommend this approach if you won't use the extra gas within about a month or two since gasoline does have a limited shelf life without the addition of fuel stabilizer
