Hello,

I am the guy who wrote more than 70% of our wiki 1 or 2 years ago, with a different user account, when I believed this sub would take me somewhere near an answer to my life.

I though that following some recipe people create here was a way to achieve a healthy, prosper, simple life.

Well... I learned my lesson. Theories are far from action. Action is far from result. The more I kept myself out of subs promoting "solutions" to my life, the more I found what I wanted.

So, what is my situation now? What did I learn from my choices in the past year, after deleting my social media accounts, unplugged TV and Wi-fi from home, disconnect from my device to a dumbphone, started eating veggies and low carb, bla bla bla, endless recipes to a ideal life you will see on magazines and TV, and reddit cof cof...

I learned just one thing. You are what you do, not what you think about doing. You are what you apply to your life, not endless greek philosophy books ideas bring you day by day by some reddit sub.

Simply, you are what you opt to do, in the direction you want to go.

And, in my case it was really simple. I read down deep some ideas by people before me, on books, not ctrl+c ctrl+v sub posts on "look how social media is bad, I quit facebook for the last 1 mont, detox your life now!". There are really intelligent people in the past, but reading them is quite hard.

And after read all that stuff, use it. It is simple, USE INFORMATION, DO NOT REPEAT, CREATE SOMETHING NEW.

I took an epicurean approach, read some other ideas, and I do like what I found during almost 2 years collecting ideas and filtering.

At first I was confused. Will this new book about cleaning my house in an eastern way help me declutter my mind? Will this and that help me become a better person? Should I quit Instagram and start running 10K everyday?

There are many paths ahead. I believe this sub and the network of subs we have here sometimes gives us too many answers. Answers created to other people, on other realities, on others circunstancies, and we keep thinking they are right. Well, it works to user /ilovekitty , must work to everyone. Right?

WELL, IT IS NO REALLY THAT WAY.

I took some changes in my life to notice what I really like. In my personal discoveries I had to cut relationships, create new friendships, filter people and ideas, decide paths to take. And I do believe I live a simpler life now, compared to the first time I entered this sub 4 years ago. Not in the pattern created by any user on reddit, but a pattern created by me, to me.

I won't get in details how my life is now, because, as I said, each one will have a story. We all had a story to get here.

I just advice newcomers, don't believe in my words on the wiki. They are far from reality. Simply read, filter, select ideas and create an objective. You can have a simple life and your life be considered a mess to some people. You don't need to live on the woods without tap water to be happy. Ok, Walden is cool, but was Thoreau's reality, 170 years ago, not yours.

Simplicity comes in many ways. Don't follow ideas with a blindfold in the dark. Light some candles and remember you only have one path ahead, the one YOU will chose. You own your life, make the best of it.

Regards,

F.B.F.
