I don’t profess to know much about plumbing at all, but as a mostly DIYer I am kinda confused how to fix this, or if it needs to be at all.To preface: my house was built in 1938, and the laundry room was really installed as an after thought when washers became a thing. As a result, my laundry room is really a disaster.I just bought a new washer and dryer, and would like to fix it up. A huge thing that has bothered me is that the washer drains into the utility sink and at times, will back up on to the floor, spilling outside. Not terrible since the floor is concrete and my laundry room is attached to my detached garage. But also pretty annoying. Should I fix this by attaching a pvc pipe and creating a “standpipe” or buying a larger capacity utility sink? Any their ideas to make this more functional and less house of horrors?
