I have a family member who will turn 18 later this year and I'm looking for something that is usable now that she'll still use @ 40 and be able to say she received at 18. Her requests are for makeup and clothing, I'll probably get some of those, but they aren't memorable. Primary interests outside of those are in anime videos and swords/knives. Obviously, interests change over time so it's an interesting challenge. I've been looking through some previous threads, but I don't think iron pans, ROTH IRAs, or guns are quite the right gift (admittedly, those were for 20 & 21)
Budget is flexible, I'm not going to buy her a new car or anything like that, but a really good idea for a few hundred wouldn't bother me.
Especially for the ladies, did you buy/receive anything in your teenage years that has been especially useful to you in the years since?
