There’s this one anal security guard I have to deal with every couple days who insists on rifling through every little opening in every bag, and always opens up compartments in my bag that I never even use and wastes a lot of my time. So I’m looking to get a simpler bag to save time at this particular checkpoint.

It needs to carry a 13” MacBook Pro, a few pages of letter-size paper, the computer’s charger and cable, and a few small adapters like a card reader and a flash drive. It would be nice to have space left over for a USB hard drive and possibly a compact portable scanner which is about the size of a Voss water bottle but a little thinner and not round.

My key goal is to have only one closure for the whole thing, so basically a top flap or zipper that exposes all of the internal compartments. A double-access closure (my current bag has zippers on the front and back and the genius always opens both of them) is not allowed. I would prefer something with internal dividers/pockets over just a wide open bag.

I use a neoprene sleeve inside of my existing bags so I’m not concerned about precise sizing or protection for the laptop compartment.

Must have a shoulder strap.

I stated a budget of $150 because I know some of these brands can get fairly pricy but I would prefer to spend much less than that.

This is for court so professional appearance is important but it doesn’t have to be a classic briefcase per se. Then again, maybe a classic briefcase could be a good option if it has a shoulder strap.
