I've got some stadium seats that I'm mounting to a 3/4" laminated pine base. They mount to the pine via bolts that come up through the bottom. I need to recess the bolts into the pine so the pine sits flush on the floor - I don't want to bolt heads sticking out the bottom. The plan is to use a regular drill bit to drill a hole for the bolts, and use a spade bit to drill a larger hole partially through the wood that will allow the bolt heads to sit inside the pine, instead of sticking out the bottom. My question is - does it matter in which order I drill these holes? Should I use the regular bit first all the way through, and then the spade bit to drill the recessed part? Or should I first use the spade bit to drill the recessed part, then the regular bit to drill the hole all the way through? Here are some pics to show you what I mean - currently one seat is sitting on some cheap particleboard. The plan is to replace that with a piece of 2' x 4' x 3/4" pine that will allow me to mount both seats.https://ift.tt/2LxKTdU via /r/DIY https://ift.tt/2L7oOXo
