First post here. I'm 35, married and have two children and live in England. My wife and I are increasingly moving towards a simpler life and I now want to drop from full-time work to 3 days/week. This is to free up time and enable me to look after our children when my wife is at work (she works 2 days/week). The one thing holding me back is fear. It's not about consumerism as such but a fear of "what if something happens?". For example, what if we need private health care for the kids? Or what if my wife is made redundant? Or what if we get a huge bill out of nowhere?
How do you guys, particularly those of you who are parents, overcome this?
