Link to images: https://ift.tt/2zTB08Q am at a low point compared to all my neighbors and I get a few feet of water from flash floods in my backyard when the storm drains clog with leaves among other things. I don't really have a pitch back there which isn't good for the foundation to get water even when it isn't a flood situation. I had a company take a look and they are confident that they can lower the pitch away from the house and raise the pitch closer to the house by using a combination of dump truck loads and moving the ground around. Also he would create a 50' line in the backyard where it has stone under the earth to help absorb some of the excess water. Sort of like a leech pit I guess.I wanted to get second opinions on if anyone thinks this should do it, or how much pitch I should be adding here. You can see the water line on the house where I got what looks to be about 2 feet of water. The back door makes it hard to raise the earth more than 6 inches in the back without being higher than the door, but I could always modify the door so that it is higher up or water tight etc since water pours in the back door.I'm also open to other ideas such as a flood fence or anything else. I think a dry well wouldn't do much since it takes many hours to pump the backyard regardless so it wouldn't keep up with the flood, and since my backyard is at such a low spot, there is nowhere to passively drain the water that wouldnt' impact my neighbors, and I'm asking for permission to tie into the storm drain system, but I think I'm still too low regardless if they gave me permission since I would need the pipe to be at a slight downtilt for the water to flow away from the yard.I am also concerned if I change my pitch too much can I get into legal trouble if it causes more flooding to my neighbor behind me, but the water in my yard comes from their yard which comes from the street on their side when it overflows/gets backed up with leaves. You guys are all crafty here which is why i posted here, but if there is a different subreddit I should be posting this I will remove this post, Thanks! via /r/DIY https://ift.tt/2mrJp9T
