I prefer not to buy new appliances until they breakdown, but newer models tend to be more energy efficient. My apartment came with a ten year old refrigerator which only has 1 star energy rating and the newer models have at least 4 stars (it could be the other way around, I forgot). People keep telling me to get a new one but this old guy works perfectly fine.
Curious to see if other people retire their appliances at old age and wait till it dies.
