I'm building a mezzanine in my house that spans the full width of the room. Here's the Sketchup: https://ift.tt/2LrWtXL reference, it's 3m x 2m (~10' x 7'), with 100x100mm (4"x4") posts and 80x160mm beams (~3"x6").My issue is, how to make the wall-side ladder stringer secure? Here's the joint: https://ift.tt/2uvrL9B sits under the side beam, so it's flush with the wall (and I plan on bolting it to the wall too). But only 66mm (~2.5") butts up to the post, and if I did move the stringer towards the post, there wouldn't be any stepping-off space at the top. Here's the joint from the internal view: https://ift.tt/2LrWDhP seem to be:Move the stringer sideways so that it fits alongside the joist, not under it. This makes the ladder really narrow, wastes space between the stringer and the wall, and means I can't bolt the stringer to the wall for security.Drill in a dowel or mortice the stringer into the post. I'm not sure 66mm is enough to secure it.Bolt on some sort of metal plate to join the stringer to the joist above it.Bolt the stringer to the wall and hope for the best?Any thoughts and ideas welcome. via /r/DIY https://ift.tt/2NWrh4C
