My kid is 1.5 years old. Lately I’ve been buying clothes at thrift shops for him, stuff you can tell that haven’t been worn too much and in great condition, some name brand etc. the clothes have been in the range of $0.25-$2 ranging from shirts to shoes. But the catch is, some of the clothing he can’t wear till he’s older max of 6 years old.

My mentality is, I pick clothes that aren’t time specific (cartoons from today that would maybe out of date by the time he wears them), but saving myself a decent amount of money in the long run. But idk, my friend questioned me why now instead of thrifting when he becomes that age? I guess I felt like I wouldn’t find really nice, barely warm dress shoes for him when I need them. I have a big family, so I know there will always be a nice event that he would need those. But since my friend said something I’m questioning if this is the right thing to do. It’s not like don’t have an Efund or behind in bills, I just like to save money in the long run.

I have storage space and have been bagging them up so they don’t get affected by moisture and I know when too much clothes for the age is too much and wait till the time comes.

I wouldn’t say that I’m one of those people that buy something because I might use it in the future, I buy stuff that I know will be used.

I would like some input, thank you in advance!
