I guess this is part 2 to my last post. https://www.reddit.com/r/personalfinance/comments/8y6ayn/accepted_new_job_same_title_and_pay_good_or_bad/?st=JK63D1J4&sh=1276f0d7
This promotion was promised 1 year and 4 months ago when I switched departments with many added responsibilities. Throughout this time, manager and I continue to discuss promotion but says he’s “waiting on director to speak with VP when _____ project is over.”
Last week, knowing I had the new job in the bag and am just waiting on background check to pass, I brought up the topic to my manager again and let him know “if career development goals the (current) company has for me is deviating from mine, I’m fine with pursuing another opportunity.” He says he will follow up. They sent me a meeting invite this coming Monday to discuss.
What should I be prepared to say/not say? I’m 99% sure I’ll move forward with new employer.
EDIT: Thank you all for the good advice! Sounds like the popular consensus is be open to what they have to say without mention of my new opportunity. I’ll keep everyone posted! <3
