After seeing this project in the Family Handyman magazine about 16 years ago, my wife and I had threatened to build this almost every spring. We really liked the look and it seemed simple enough, but we never got around to it. Finally, when my wife left me...home alone and went on vacation...I decided I was going to get this thing built!The magazine article has really good step by step instructions so I won't try to replicate or replace them here. As with any of these projects in magazines, they look great on paper, but you never know how they are going to come out in the hands of a novice.I'm pretty good at following directions but I wouldn't exactly say I'm very skillful when it comes to working with my hands. I had a couple head scratching moments that I call out in the description(s) on the images, but overall it was a fast and easy project.
