Hi! My birthday is coming up and I was thinking of treating myself to a few smaller BIFL items. I started doing this on my 30th birthday (I’ll be 32 next Monday) and I find it a nice way of spending any birthday money I am lucky enough to receive, as I can look back at those birthdays and remember what I got as I am still making use of it, as opposed to blowing it on crap.
Anyway, to cut to the chase, this year I am thinking of buying a Fischer Space Pen and possibly some sort of multi-tool like a Leatherman or a Swiss Army Knife. For my 30th I got a really nice Barbour waxed Bedale jacket which I’m hoping will last me forever if I take care of it. I have also purchased a Thermos flask, an Eastpak backpack and a Zippo lighter in the past two years and hope these will last me a long time, too.
It would be fantastic if people could recommend some smaller items they have purchased that have BIFL quality but didn’t cost loads of money.
