So I’ve lived in/owned my southern Utah home for about 14 months and will be moving out of state for my job. I’m expecting to sell my home for about 30-40k profit after all expenses. Because I haven’t lived in the home for two of the last five years I don’t qualify for the full exemption. Looking up things on the IRS website I qualify for a partial exemption under the moving for work qualification. Using their worksheet it looks like I would have a 291k exemption. I am curious if anyone has any similar experience with my situation or advice that would help? Or if I’m missing something? If it makes any difference I am married filing jointly.
