I have a late 1930’s house, basement had a terribly ugly tile drop ceiling (the kind that is staples to furring strips). I removed the drop ceiling. Was going to paint the joists for the industrial look, but realized that the area above tv would likely be too noisy. I want to keep half the basement with open joists above the pool table and half dry walled above TV. The room would be visually separated by main AC trunk duct. I was thinking of building a soffit around beam and duct. I’m tryiig to find pix of a basement like this but can’t find any. Has anyone else done something like this?
