Thank you so much for reading in advance. I know there are other posts about short-term beds, but in these posts I usually don't see 1.) my duration of stay needed, 2.) the budget they're working with, and 3.) what kind of work they do.

I will be both teaching and taking a bunch of classes at a university next year, and I know it's gonna take a toll on my body--I'll need something hopefully conducive to sleep as well as a decent workspace. My stipend was sucked dry by my last apartment, and so I moved into one that is cheaper by almost $200. However, my room is unfurnished (my kitchen has everything I need and my roommate-to-be is lugging in her living room furniture from her previous arrangement, which I plan on helping out with). I am worried that I've made a horrible mistake.

Are there any go-to solutions for not only beds, but other essential pieces of a bedroom set such as desk and dresser? I will be able to afford small things to help the room out like posters and a bean bag chair when I start getting my money and can allocate it properly, but I am most frightened about the first month or so.

Should I go for a portable closet/dresser type deal?

This roommate-to-be also seems really well off and I've got not much more than my mentioned budget to my name right now before August hits and I start getting my TA paychecks. I'm secondarily worried about being embarrassed by what will inevitably be a very empty room to start out with.

Again, I really appreciate any help.

P.S. I believe I'm too large for an affordable hammock setup (lmfao), so hoping to get distance from those recommendations.
