For me and so many, I feel like I’m often day dreaming about that ideal “simple” job/career. I want the job that doesn’t require a ton of my time and energy, that is moderately fulfilling, and in which I feel competent.
On reflection, I think I have that. I work in a small healthcare office; I’m the only person in my discipline and I know how to do my job well. I usually work 8:30-3:00 but get paid for 40 hours at a good wage. I almost never take my work home with me too.
However, it’s a very sterile environment in more ways than one. It’s a small team and we aren’t very close, and the US healthcare industry feels like a racket sometimes. But the biggest challenge is that my boss is extremely frustrating to work with. She micro-manages, is very volatile emotionally, talks badly about everyone, and doesn’t seem to appreciate a single thing her employees do. She’s stressful for me to be around; she makes me anxious.
I’m trying to not let her ruin this otherwise good situation. I often look at job listings, but if I went to another similar workplace I’m sure it’d be more hours and less pay. I’d love the input of this sub.
