I hope this is the right place to post this. I have two Dirt Devil vacuums. They both originally cost $50-100 and they’re both 10+ years old. They both don’t work well anymore. One doesn’t vacuum at all, it just blows air out of the side and front. The other has weak suction. The belts and filters on both have never been replaced and they were never deep cleaned until I did a couple years ago.

At what point is it worth repairing one of these vacuums, which weren’t worth that much in the first place? (I only need one vacuum, I just happened to end up with two.)

For whichever vacuum I choose to keep, I’m sure it needs a new belt and filter, but will that make a big enough difference to justify the cost? I don’t want to sink much money into it if it would be worth buying a higher quality new vacuum for the long run.

Bonus question, does anyone know what to do with old vacuums that’s more eco-friendly than just throwing them away?
