I see some tips sometimes that just baffle me. The latest one is the tip for limiting shower time and not using hot water. I think it's going overboard. I want to be frugal, but not at the cost of all of my happiness, lol.
So what are some ways to make a noticeable difference in your bills, that are actually worth it? For example, energy-efficient lightbulbs don't take long to pay for themselves, and last a long time. Easily worth it. No hassle, no installation time, very passive investment. Solar panels may possibly be worth it in the long-run (assuming installation costs continue to decline).
I'm not talking about things where you pay $30k to save $50/mo. That would not be worth it at all. But rather passive things that don't require a huge upfront investment, but make a difference in your monthly obligations.
Any great ideas? Don't care whether it has to do with air conditioning/heating, water, electricity, other bills, growing a garden, etc. For once, I might actually be in the position to OWN a home, so I can do whatever I want with it to make it more efficient.
For what it's worth, don't care if it's green if it saves me money.
