The fiancée and I are moving into our first home on Friday and it's a 1890s Victorian Terrace in Bath. All the floors are ugly as hell 1960s carpet, so they'll be coming up.We've had a look under the carpets when we viewed the house and the floorboards have a nice natural shade to them. We don't want to sand the natural aged colour away. We've been advised to use a hand sander to make sure we don't take too much off the surface of the wood because 2mm down we'll get down the light colour and it'll look like new wood. We've been given a sheet sander (palm sander?) to try and tackle this job. Is a sheet sander a good start or shall I look into getting a Random Orbital Sander like I've seen used almost everywhere else.I know a belt sander is ill-advised because it can leave directional marks, but I was wondering if anyone has experience using a sheet sander and if it'll be ideal for this job? Thanks! via /r/DIY https://ift.tt/2twEVmo
