Hey wondering if anyone is in a similar situation and can help me with figuring out taxes. So I live in NY and work from home as an employee of a company based in California. I wont be setting foot in California at all.

From what I can find online * My employer will withhold taxes for NY and not California in my paycheck. * I do not have to file a non-residents tax return for California if my employer has set to withholding taxing for NY instead of Cali * If my employer has been withholding taxes for California instead of NY. I would have to file a non-residents California tax return to get a refund of the taxes that were withheld. Because I would be paying NY state instead and cant be double tax.

Does this matter if this remote job is my 2nd job? I also heard EDD Cali state tax agency is very stingy so better to file a non-residents tax return?

Thanks!
